The digit span task is one of the oldest measures of short-term and working memory: hold a sequence in mind, then reproduce it. Your span is the longest sequence you can recall reliably — for most adults that's about 7 digits, plus or minus 2.
This is an informal performance exercise, not a medical or diagnostic assessment. To make it a useful benchmark, retest under similar conditions and watch the trend.

Most adults recall around 7 digits, give or take 2 — the famous 'magical number seven'. Spans of 5–9 are all typical.
